von F.Jacob vom 15.Dez.05 (vor der Tsunamikatastrophe), in dem
er hinweist auf die Problematik des Spendens für bestimmte
Gruppen |
We need to
get the support of other organizations in Europe so that
we will be able to implement various projects that will
ensure an integrated development of our families. For
example in the coming years we need to implement more
projects in areas like Income Generation activities, awareness
building sessions among women, youth, fisherfolk and cocos
workers, vocational training programmes for women and
youth, programmes to help physically and mentally disabled/retarded,
a home for old people as most of them suffer a lot due
to loneliness, necessary food, medicine etc, a centre
where gifted children from poor families can stay and
study etc etc.
Our activities should promote integrated and sustainable
development in our villages. We can do all these only
if we can also get support from funding agencies. When
I was in the previous organization we used to have such
partnerships with various funding agencies in Europe and
USA and that played very important role in making our
efforts successful. In fact over the years the Fluecks
and me raised more than 3,30,000 Euro this way from various
funding agencies. Now time has come for us to move on
to this area of work. What is important is to contact
them and convince them of our activities and our nature
as a secular organization.
This has some problems like certain church organizations
will not help us and therefore we will have to approach
those who are more interested in helping secular (non-religious)
organizations. In a country like India, Church based funding
agencies in Europe helping only Church sponsored social
organizations in India has more negative social impacts.
Many Hindus don't tolerate Christians because they find
the Christians getting lot of aid from Europe and USA
through their parishes. We need to make our secular status
known and promote the message of helping poor people in
India through secular organizations to avoid communal
divisions widening further. This is a very important task
we have as an independent organization. Muslims are hated
by Hindus because lot of money come from the Middle East
to their Mosques and for Muslims alone and Christians
are also treated in the same way because Christians get
aid from Europe and USA. Our efforts should promote communal
harmony and Samhathi should remain a home for all.
